Pourover

A clean, expressive cup with balanced clarity and structure.

What you'll need

  • Pour over brewer (e.g. V60, Kalita)
  • Paper filter
  • Grinder
  • Scales
  • Kettle
  • Timer
  • Jug or cup

Recipe

  • Coffee: 15g
  • Water: 250g
  • Ratio: 1:16.7
  • Time: 3–4 minutes

Steps

  1. Insert paper filter and rinse with hot water. Discard rinse water.
  2. Add ground coffee and tare the scale.
  3. Start timer and pour 30g of water to bloom. Let sit for 30–40 seconds.
  4. Slowly pour up to 180g in concentric circles.
  5. Pause 15–20 seconds.
  6. Continue pouring to reach 250g total.
  7. Let the water fully draw down.

Tips

  • If brew is too fast, grind finer. If too slow, grind coarser.
  • Aim for a flat bed at the end of the drawdown.

AeroPress

A compact, versatile brewer known for producing a sweet, full cup.

What you'll need

  • AeroPress
  • Paper filter
  • Grinder
  • Scales
  • Kettle
  • Timer
  • Stirrer or spoon

Recipe

  • Coffee: 15g
  • Water: 240g
  • Grind: Medium-fine
  • Method: Inverted
  • Time: 2:00–2:30

Steps

  1. Insert paper filter and rinse it well.
  2. Assemble AeroPress in the inverted position.
  3. Add 15g of ground coffee and tare the scale.
  4. Start timer and add 240g of hot water.
  5. Stir gently to ensure even saturation.
  6. At 1:30, attach the cap with filter.
  7. At 2:00, flip onto your cup and press down slowly.
  8. Stop pressing when you hear a hissing sound.

Tips

  • Use a firm, steady press — don’t rush it.
  • Try variations in water temperature or steep time to suit taste.

AeroPress (Upright Method)

A bright, clean cup with delicate structure and minimal bitterness.

What you'll need

  • AeroPress
  • Paper filter
  • Grinder
  • Scales
  • Kettle
  • Timer
  • Stirrer or spoon

Recipe

  • Coffee: 12g
  • Water: 200g
  • Grind: Medium
  • Water Temp: 85–90°C
  • Method: Upright
  • Time: ~1:30

Steps

  1. Insert and rinse the paper filter in the cap. Attach cap to AeroPress and place it on your cup.
  2. Add 12g of medium-ground coffee and tare your scale.
  3. Start timer and pour 200g of hot water in one continuous pour.
  4. Stir gently 3–4 times.
  5. Insert the plunger and pull up slightly to create a seal and prevent dripping.
  6. At 1:00, begin pressing gently — aim to finish by 1:30.

Tips

  • For more body, try a slightly finer grind.
  • For more clarity, use slightly cooler water or a faster press.
  • This method shines with clean, washed coffees and benefits from a quick, light touch.
