This coffee comes to us from Sitio Forno Grande, a small farm in the highlands of Espirito Santo, Brazil, owned and run by Jose Schiavo and his family.
Though the Schiavo family has been growing coffee for four generations, it wasn’t until their move to Forno Grande that things really began to take shape.
The region’s cool, humid climate made their neighbours sceptical but with time, care, and investment, the family proved the farm could produce both high quality and good volumes of coffee.
The Schiavo family has now been focused on specialty coffee for over 16 years. With support from Cup of Excellence winner, Eduardo Tozi, they’ve upgraded their processing infrastructure and refined their approach, and the results are self-evident.

Jose’s daughter, Jaqueline, now plays a key role in managing harvest and post-harvest processing, helping drive consistent improvements across the board.
For us, it’s a cup that feels familiar in the best possible way; rounded and comforting, tasting of pecan pie, red apple, and maple syrup.
This is our second year buying from Jose Schiavo. We’re excited to share another round of this comforting and crowd-pleasing coffee, having purchased through our import partner, Osito Coffee.
