This new release marks a seasonal highlight for us — the arrival of the new harvest from Kenya. Every year we eagerly await these coffees, and we're excited to share this one with you.

This coffee comes from Kiruru Coffee Factory in Murang’a County, Kenya. Established in 1952, Kiruru is one of several processing stations operated by the Kiru Farmers' Cooperative. The cooperative works with more than 3,500 smallholder farmers from nearby villages, who deliver carefully harvested coffee cherries throughout the season.

Located at approximately 1,800 metres above sea level, the region enjoys rich red volcanic soils, moderate rainfall, and cool temperatures ranging from 12–24°C. These conditions create an ideal environment for coffee cultivation. The main varieties grown here are Batian and Ruiru. Once harvested, cherries are delivered to the factory, where they undergo meticulous sorting and processing. The cherries are first floated to remove immature fruit before being pulped, fermented, washed, graded, and carefully dried on raised beds.

Beyond the flavour, coffees from Kiruru represent the collective efforts of hundreds of farming families, helping to support their households while maintaining sustainable farms. Sustainability is a key focus for the cooperative, with initiatives such as wastewater soak pits to protect local waterways and tree-planting programs that encourage environmental stewardship across member farms.

In the cup, we love this coffee for its bright, juicy profile, with notes of red grapefruit, pineapple, and ripe yellow stone fruit. A lively lime-like acidity carries through the cup for a bright refreshing finish.

This is our first release from Kiruru Coffee Factory, sourced through our good friends at Condesa, and we hope you enjoy this coffee as much as we do.
